The vacation in Eilat is not necessarily cheap, and Eilat’s attractions cost a lot of money.
Although the city of Eilat is VAT-free, so shopping there is cheaper than elsewhere in the country, but most of the sites and things you can do in Eilat are quite expensive.
You will be surprised to hear that quite a few attractions in Eilat are free, and some offer free entry. Some sites are only open on certain days of the week, others are always available – but all of them give you a unique atmosphere in the city of Eilat. Of course, most of the good hotels in Eilat have pools and offer activities and attractions for children , and you should take advantage of some of them.
I found at least ten interesting attractions in Eilat for free, and you are welcome to add your own ideas.
Things to see, do and see in Eilat for free
The promenade with its famous pier is a great place to stroll, with views of yachts and boats along the coast in front.
It is also pleasant to wander among the stalls of “Bazaar Eilat” – a hawker complex on the boardwalk that characterizes the atmosphere of the market. The old Bastet complex has undergone a “facelift” and now has a completely new design format.
In the complex next to the bridge, about 60 stalls come to life with vendors selling everything, from clothes and jewelry to toys, souvenirs, food and drink stalls and more.
During the days of the Hanukkah holiday, different shows take place every day on the boardwalk: musical shows, juggling, drumming, acrobatics and more.
A musical fountain in Eilat
A relatively new attraction that was inaugurated in Eilat a few years ago. This is the largest musical fountain in China, it is lit with colorful LED lights and sprays a fountain up to 30 meters high to the beat of the music.
The Bird Park in Eilat was established in order to nurture the area, which is a central and important migration site for millions of birds.
The park has fresh water lakes, salt water lakes and plant forests that provide quality food for migratory birds, neat and pleasant.
There are hiking trails and observation points for birders and photographers where you can observe a variety of bird species, making it a family pastime.
The entrance is free. The park can be visited at any time.
It is recommended to visit the site in the early morning when you can see more birds. The preferred seasons are spring, autumn and winter.
The park staff provides fascinating tutorials (for a fee) that explain the restoration process the area has gone through and introduce the birds of the research station and their special stories. Training must be coordinated in advance.
Tip: It is recommended to combine the visit to the park with the nearby Land of the Hadrons.
Extreme complexity for skaters.
The skatepark complex includes a world-class professional stunt track that will serve as a stage for international competitions in the industry.
Location: Binyamin Gardens, in front of the airport.
A park in front of the airport with play facilities for children and a view of the surrounding sea.
The park complex includes musical fountains, Eilat city museum, Eilat artist gallery and a skatepark.
Although not completely free, there is a nominal fee: NIS 5-10.
Nice museum, recommend visiting if you are in the area. Adjacent to the musical fountain.
Figure skating show in the ice mall
In the ice mall, figure skating shows are held every Monday through Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturdays, and the shows are free to the general public.
The Red Canyon is a beautiful and fascinating natural attraction located about 20 kilometers north of Eilat.
This is the channel through which the second stream flows, and next to it is a wall carved from a special red sandstone. There is a short loop line of about an hour and a long line of about 5 kilometers in the Red Canyon.
The routes inside the mall are easy and suitable for families with small children. It consists of climbing on pegs in the rock.
Things to do in Eilat – Eilat HaAdom Mall Attractions in Eilat
Mount Yoash is about a quarter of an hour’s drive from Eilat, and from here you can enjoy beautiful views of the Bay of Eilat, the Egyptian border, the Sinai Peninsula and the surrounding mountains.
The view from the lookout is particularly spectacular and it is recommended to arrive before sunset.
The ascent from the parking lot to the observation deck is steep and not easy, but takes a few minutes. You can also take an SUV to reach the observation deck.
About a quarter of an hour’s drive north of Eilat are the salt pools, where as usual hundreds of pink flamingos live. Eilat is strategically located on the migration path of migratory birds, and flamingos throw food in salt ponds.
You can watch the picturesque pink flamingos and have a picnic nearby.
Tip: The Evrona Reserve is about a 7-minute drive from Yanchi. You can combine a visit to the reserve with an observation.
If you are shopping, you are better off in Eilat, where the prices do not include VAT.
The mall has a wide variety of stores from most of the well-known chains.
Buying coffee and pastries, sitting on the balcony overlooking the Red Sea, very pleasant.
Shopping malls occasionally organize shows and attractions for children.
