Yodfat monkey forest

The basis of our approach is that all animals are on one level or another like us, humans feel, sense, fear, love, get angry and live in very complex social structures that we cannot really understand. Every animal and plant on our planet has a significant role in maintaining ecological balance. They are important to our world and deserve to live (when not in the wild) as close as possible to natural conditions.

This is the spirit in which we practice with all the animals in the monkey forest and ask you, the visitors, to respect it.

The monkeys are free to move around the entire forest as they wish.

During your visit, you may or may not meet the band in a smooth area.

In any case, there will be guides there who will direct you to their location.

We know it’s hard… but it’s absolutely forbidden to pet the monkeys or try to catch them or touch them in any way.

Monkeys, on the other hand, are allowed to come to you, sit on your lap or on your shoulder or on your head as they wish.

It is absolutely forbidden to feed the monkeys from the hand.

The monkeys are wild animals and not pets. That’s why we don’t get them used to eating from the hand and we don’t manipulate them to get closer.

The squirrel monkeys can only be fed with larvae sold on the spot.

The caterpillars are placed on the ground for the monkeys, just as they would look for caterpillars in the soil in the rain forests.

Please respect the instructions and listen to the instructors.

Description

We are a place with a special approach and perhaps different from most zoos/animal corners. Our main emphasis is on the welfare of the animals. With us, what you see is what is there.

There is no night closing in the cells. Some of the monkeys have houses (for protection from the cold, with radiator heaters), and they are free to choose to enter them or not.

The development of the forest is done for the sake of the animals only. Your investment in an entrance ticket to the monkey forest is an investment in the welfare of the animals and helps us continue our sacred work.

The development with us stems from the observation processes of the staff who take care of the animals we have. Observing their behavior allows us to better understand what needs to be changed, developed, added or subtracted from their living spaces. Thus, with us you will find plots that are built patch on patch, connected by bridges and full of animal enrichment.

Yes, we have a professional team of guides at your service, to explain about our monkeys and animals, and to answer questions. It is important for us to host you. and allow you to enjoy a “different” experience with us, like a trip abroad. We are also busy creating for you quiet and sitting corners that will give you space to be together. Children have a sandbox and books in our cafeteria. The beauty and artistic cultivation of the monkey forest is a significant and important part of the forest.
